The amazing and versatile Jiaxin Lloyd Webber who has been principal cello of the Auckland Chamber Orchestra and has performed concertos by Dvořák, Elgar and Lalo as well as Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations.

Tchaikovsky’s glorious Violin Concerto and Malcolm Arnold’s film score, Little Suite No.2 follow and require no introduction. The concert ends with Elgar’s magnificent Enigma Variations including Nimrod.
- Sat 25 MarFestival Hall, PetersfieldBy 1910, when Stanford wrote the Songs of the Fleet, he was the grand old man of British music. As we might expect from the period, the fast movements have their share of cheery Edwardian gung-ho, whilst the slow movements have a haunting and timeless beauty.

The programme includes Mendelssohn’s popular and evocative Hebrides Overture, Bruch’s famous violin concerto in G minor and Brahms’ magnificent second symphony.

- Sat 22 JunThe Anvil, BasingstokeA tribute to some of the greatest French composers, this concert also has something of a Spanish flavour, since both Massenet and Bizet, although both French, skilfully use colourful orchestration and striking dance rhythms to suggest the sounds of Spain in the Le Cid and Carmen Suites respectively.
