Sue Bint

Sue runs a busy and successful private teaching practice, performs with SouthDowns Camerata and gives regular recitals in venues and festivals in the south of England, Norfolk and Wales with the Rotherhurst Ensemble.
Away from her musical pursuits Sue loves spending time looking after her two young grandsons. She also enjoys walking, growing vegetables, browsing in book stores and antique shops, and exploring architecture in the UK and abroad.
Sue has been associated with Basingstoke Symphony Orchestra since 1985 and has led since 2013.
Sue grew up in rural Montgomeryshire where she led the Powys Youth Orchestra and was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales for several years. She was the recipient of the Paul Mailles award and the Montgomeryshire Society’s Music Prize. Sue studied violin with Yossi Zivoni and Malcolm Layfield at The Royal Northern College of Music and after four years graduated with Honours. Post-graduate studies led to Sue gaining her PGCE and an MA in Applied Music Education, with Distinction.
Following her move to Hampshire Sue worked in a variety of roles for Hampshire Music Service, which included directing the Petersfield Area Schools String Orchestra. She was Director of Music at the Junior Department of Churcher’s College for fourteen years and examined for ABRSM throughout the UK. Sue particularly enjoyed international examining tours to Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing.
