Catch up with violinist Aki Blendis' pre-concert TV Interview?

Aki, a standout in the BBC Young Musician of the Year 2022 competition at just 14 years of age, recently made his debut with the Basingstoke Symphony Orchestra at The Anvil, Basingstoke.

Aki performed Glazunov’s dazzling and virtuosic Violin Concerto, showcasing his fearless talent and remarkable skill, making him a young musician to watch. The concert was attended by 240 young musicians from local schools in the Basingstoke area, along with their families, as part of the orchestra's popular Community Classics initiative, which offers free tickets to schools.

These young attendees had the unique opportunity to experience live classical music up close, sparking inspiration and encouraging a lifelong passion for music.

Ann Henshaw, Chair of the Basingstoke Symphony Orchestra, shared her excitement: "We were thrilled to have such a talented young soloist alongside so many aspiring musicians in the same venue. Many of our orchestra members were first inspired by attending classical concerts as children, and we hope this experience was equally impactful for those attending."
