A rising star of the classical music world is set to dazzle audiences in Basingstoke.

Lithuanian-born pianist Kasparas Mikužis will perform Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F at The Anvil with the Basingstoke Symphony Orchestra (BSO) on Saturday, June 27 at 7.30pm.
Recently named a Classic FM Rising Star and Young Classical Artist Trust winner, Mikužis has performed at leading venues across Europe including Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and London’s Wigmore Hall.
Lithuanian-born pianist Kasparas Mikužis will perform Gershwin’s Piano Concerto.
He has gained recognition not only for his technical brilliance but also for his expressive and distinctive musical voice.
Reflecting on a recent performance, critic Christopher Axworthy wrote: “…the music seemed to pour from the fingers of this extraordinary young musician.”
The concert, titled Saturday Night is Music Night, promises an evening of orchestral favourites alongside the concerto.
The programme includes Smetana’s The Bartered Bride Overture, Strauss’s Blue Danube Waltz, and Eric Coates’ By the Sleepy Lagoon.Pieces by Arturo Márquez and conductor Stephen Scotchmer will also feature.
Mikužis will perform Gershwin's jazz-infused Piano Concerto in F, known that blends classical structure with the rhythms and colours of American jazz.
