About the Event

Basingstoke Symphony Orchestra performs every year at Petersfield Festival supporting local choral societies with major works under the baton of Paul Spicer as well as performing pieces from its own repertoire.

This year BSO will be playing Parry’s Blest Pair of Sirens followed by an orchestral piece and finally accompanying the choir for Dona Nobis Pacem. Vaughan Williams’ impassioned plea for peace which was inspired by his personal experience of the horrors of WW1 and written in the late 1930's as conflict loomed once again.

Do also look out for this amazing music festival on their website: petersfieldmusicfestival.org.uk. There is always something for everyone at Petersfield Festival and this is one not to be missed.

Last year the orchestra enjoyed a royal celebration with a royal theme at the Family Concert where we invited children to dress up as their favourite king, queen, prince or princess and there were some splendid costumes for the occasion. The children signed a get well card for King Charles III which was sent off to The Palace. The concert was a music lesson, a history lesson and – most importantly – an inspiration for the next generation of musicians and music-lovers.
