The BSO
in Bournemouth (again!)
27th and 28th November
2001Once again, Bournemouth was rocked to the core as the Basingstoke
Symphony Orchestra descended on the unsuspecting sleepy seaside town. Well, not quite, but
we did return to the same hotel as last year for the Orchestra's annual weekend away of
playing and partying.
The Quality hotel where we stayed. We used a function
room to rehearse.
The weekend away offers a chance to play through a lot of music,
both to get ideas for concerts and to allow members to play the pieces they are dying to
play but which may not be practical for concerts either because of the orchestration or
the difficulty of the parts! It's also a great chance to socialise and get to know people
better - something there isn't much time to do an Friday rehearsals.
For once, the weather was actually fine - which is unheard of for a
BSO weekend. Look at this sunshine!

What's more, we even had hot water at the hotel...
This water is hot, honest. I thought a picture of me sitting in it to prove it would probably be a bit racy...On the next few pages are a number of pictures of us playing and
socialising - we hope you enjoy them!
