The BSO
in Bournemouth 28th and 29th November 2000
Each year, the orchestra decamps to a hotel for a weekend of
play-throughs, workshops and partying. This year we went to the seaside resort of
Bournemouth. It was a really fun weekend, with everyone enjoying the opportunity to play a
wider variety of music than we normally manage in concert rehearsals in a more informal
environment.
Some of the music we just rattled through for fun, some we spent
some time over to rehearse and draw out some subtleties - the pieces we got through
included:
Mozart - Jupiter Symphony
Elgar - Enigma Variations
Brahms - Academic Festival Overture
Borodin - In the Steppes of Central Asia
Sullivan - Overture
Rimsky-Korsakov - Scherazade
and others from Ravel, Debussy, Haydn etc So, here our our holiday snaps for you to enjoy - which perhaps show
a different side to the orchestra to the one you see on the stage...
